Having a toilet is essential, not only do you use a toilet on a regular basis, but it is something that would be awful to go without for a long period of time.  I often wonder how the people back in the olden days got by without a toilet, and am so grateful I live right now during a time when there are flushing toilets almost everywhere you go.    Now when I visit a national park or go out camping and all they have is outhouses I find myself refusing to go in them because of how spoiled I am living with a flushing toilet.  Even though we have the convenience now days of a flushing toilet, we still deal with the maintenance and repairs on them on a regular basis.  Whether it's a toilet that won't flush, broken toilet bowl parts, or even a toilet that won't refill, when you have a toilet it seems like there is always something to repair.  The most recent problem we were having in our home with our toilet was with the water level.  For some reason the toilet water level was low, and it was needing to be fixed.  My husband and I quickly got to work doing our research on how to fix this, and here is what we came up with.
Step 1
Take off the Lid of the toilet and place somewhere where it will be out of the way.  If you have a dual flush toilet you will need to unscrew the flush button before you will be able to remove the lid.
Step 2
The next thing you will need to do is determine the type of toilet you have.  There are a couple different kinds of toilets out there,  but the two main types are a ball float type, or a integrated float type.  The ball float type has a large rubber or plastic float that is attached to an arm that is in the tank, and an integrated float  is a ring that sits around the fill valve.  Once you have figured out what type of toilet you have you can then move onto the next step.
Step 3
Now that you have prepped your toilet and figured out what type of toilet you have you can now start your repair.  If you have an integrated float assembly you can fix your toilet by  turning the water level adjustment screw which is located at the top of the fill valve .  When you turn the screw clockwise it lowers the float which will lower the water level, and when you turn it counterclockwise it will raise the level.
Step 4
If you have a toilet that is a ball float assembly you can fix this by bending down the rod connecting the ball float to the fill valve.  When you bend the rod down it lowers the levels and when you bend the rod up it fills the tank higher.
Step 5
Flush & Enjoy!
